(The Ottawa Citizen) Safely housed and clothed, with their children now attending school, many of the 1,600 Syrian refugees who have arrived in Ottawa in the past six months are turning their attention to a new goal: finding work. To help them along the way, Refugee 613 organized Pathways to Employment, a job fair of sorts that aimed to explain how the Canadian job market works, what the newcomers can expect in the workplace and emphasize the networking skills they’ll need to find employment. More than 200 people attended the seminar Thursday at Ottawa City Hall. Read more
